MARDİN ARTUKLU UNIVERSITY

About Us

Our university was founded on 28 May 2007. It aims to educate modern youth who have adopted and respect national cultural and historical values of the country and whose sense of responsibility is developed in a secular and democratic manner as drawn up by Ataturk.

Mardin Artuklu University portrays a dimension from its objective with its historical richness together with History departments, cultural wealth with Literature departments, with difference of languages the language and translation departments, the existence of various cultures with theology department.  

As a modern, social sciences university with a special status, it carries the historical and socio-cultural heritage of the Middle East to the whole world.   

Our university consists of six faculties, three institutes, one state conservatory, five higher vocational schools and two higher schools.

With the vision of becoming a social sciences university, Mardin Artuklu aims to serve the people living in the area by conducting activities that contribute to the development of art and education of the city where it was founded. In this context, various projects are being conducted in the Institute of Social Sciences to improve the quality of post graduate education and increase the number of students. This institute, which played a pioneering role in the development of academic structure of the Faculty of Letters, received the first graduate students to the Department of History in 2010. In 2011 it took in the post graduate students to the Department of Sociology, the Department of Turkish Language and Literature and the Department of Tourism. It is continuing to offer education in the new campus.

 

The Institute of Living Languages

The Institute of Living Languages, the first language institute in Turkey was founded following a decision of the Council of Ministers on 10th of December 2009.

The Institute consists of the Department of Kurdish Language and Culture, the Department of Syriac Language and Culture and the Department of Arabic Language and Culture.

Post graduate programs, with and without thesis, have been conducting in the Department of Kurdish Language and Culture. Currently 500 students without thesis and 68 students with thesis have been studying in these programs.

 

Mission

Our university aims to unite local values with universal ones. Mardin, where our university is located is a cosmopolitan city and also has been the centre of civilisations. Accordingly it will endeavour to continue to protect this historical heritage. Our university is based on two pillars: Languages and religions.

The essence of being successful is the excitement of reaching the very centre of science. At that point, science speaks for itself and will spread what it knows as the truth from mind to mind via the ears.

 

Vision

Our vision is to offer the unrestricted freedom to acquire scientific knowledge by researching social and cultural events, to suggest policies related to this and to play role in its follow-up and also raise a generation of young people equipped with modern and ethical values to meet mental, spiritual, physical, individual and social needs.


AS A MODERN, SOCIAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY WITH A SPECIAL STATUS, MARDIN ARTUKLU CARRIES THE HISTORICAL AND SOCIO-CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THE MIDDLE EAST TO THE WHOLE WORLD. 

 

Central Library:

Located in Chancery building, the central library of our university, with its books, reference books, and periodicals, aims to become a centre which gathers the necessary sources of information sources and makes available to users, and plays an active role in the development of education, teaching and research.

 

Information technology infrastructure:

Mardin Artuklu University makes a point of benefiting from information technologies at most levels, so that the greatest productivity in education and teaching can be provided. There are, therefore, computer labs in faculties and higher schools. All labs are connected to the Internet to which students have access after class. Registration at the university is conducted via the Internet. Internet service at 150mbps speed is located at the Çağış Campus.
