Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University (FSMVU) is a newly established higher education institute whose goal is to be at the forefront of Turkish higher education and research. The university is subsidized by the famously old Fatih Sultan Mehmet waqf (charitable trust) which was founded in 1471 by the Conqueror of Istanbul himself and has continued to provide funds for learning since then. We feel privileged to have our origins in such a venerable academic heritage. And we strive to carry this tradition further by combining traditional education with contemporary knowledge.
FSMVU was established in 2010. It is located in the historical peninsula of Istanbul, at the heart of the city in buildings whose history date back to earlier centuries of the Ottoman Istanbul. This gives a very unique edge to our mission. We are constantly aware of occupying an important place at a point where daily life intertwines with culture, history, and art. We hope to be a meeting point for higher education in the same way and we welcome all students, academicians and cooperation with other higher education institutions.

At Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University, our vision is to become an academic institution whose primary aim is to prepare individuals with professional awareness, and in light of scientific studies at national and international level, equip them from a cultural and social standpoint. Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University is an institution who has synthesized traditional values with contemporary knowledge; integratedits students, alumni, and stakeholders; values its people and adds value to them; and in addition to the foregoing, opens a unique pathway through original institutional structure and practices, instead of competing with other educational institutions; and operates as an innovative, liberal and human-centered organization which is always open to contemporary knowledge.

Our most important mission is to provide leadership to both our students and the society in efforts to increase and improve the qualified manpower and cultural assets of our country, which are the products of history and civilization, with help from great masters who are becoming more and more rare each day. This will be made possible through the most efficient use of existing national and international education and research networks in the road that the University opened for itself as a higher education institution, and will be built on efforts in fields like education, art, language, literature, history, architecture and engineering sciences.

The Faculty of Letters and Humanities' main disciplines are Turkish language, art, philosophic thought and history; these studies are deeply rooted in Turkish culture and heritage; born of social and individual experiences, events, phenomena, and people in this geography.
The primary goal of the Faculty is to define the historical, literary, sociological and psychological contexts of these data through the use of scientific methods. To achieve this goal, we draw inspiration from our cultural principles, look at the values of the East and the West, try to understand where our own values stand in human heritage, and to
make use of a comparative approach which runs parallel to the products of Western and Eastern languages and cultures.

Having a deep understanding of our culture, art and civilization and keeping an open mind with critical thinking abilities are the values shared and promoted by our faculty. We train our students with the hope that they will become scientific people with selfconfidence, awareness and a sense of responsibility.

This department aims to prepare architects who are respected by both the local and global architectural community. To achieve that purpose, we try to cultivate students with traits such as comprehensive technical knowledge, advanced technical skills, a genuine interest in culture and art and a caring for the rich cultural heritage of our civilization with the help of our meticulously prepared curriculum. Our students can also enroll in a double major or minor program in the interior architecture department.

This faculty is based on an understanding of an education system cultivating individuals who are loyal to their society's culture and values with a contemporary and openminded approach.
The faculty's aim is to be an internationally-renowned establishment which helps the proliferation of art in society, as well as conveying an aesthetical sensitivity. Additionally, providing a sense of social responsibility, The Faculty of Fine Arts encourages researchers and leading artists. Hence, our faculty contributes not only to the traditions and the culture of the world, but also opens up new horizons in arts and practice.

The Faculty of Islamic Sciences aims to be a pioneering and qualified institution of higher education, by both national and universal standards, that produces knowledge on the specific and universal values of religion in compliance with academic criteria and the needs of the society; interprets this knowledge according to the Islamic values and the needs of the age; transmits it in an accurate and effective way for the spiritual health of individuals and the well-being of society and through this dissemination of knowledge, preserves and improves our historical and cultural identity.
The objective is to contribute to the cultivation of self-confident and professionally competent individuals who learn the religion of Islam from its original sources in an objective way; who can generate original thought; who adhere to the principles of production, application and distribution of knowledge; who love their country, their people, the entire humanity, and their occupation; who comply with the moral, cultural and social values; and who have internalized the ideal of being of use to society and humanity.

The Faculty of Law aims to achieve the highest standards of education and provide them with a deep knowledge and understanding of legal subjects both domestically and internationally. Additionally, the program has both compulsory and elective courses which allow students the chance to design their own law education by deciding the field in which they want to specialize.

Established at the premises of the Yenikapı Mevlevihanesi, where the ethos of peace and tolerance established by Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī was handed down for generations, the Alliance of Civilizations Institute offers graduate courses in civilizational studies. With a great emphasis on bringing different expertise from around the world, the language of instruction is Turkish, English and Arabic. Courses are taught by renowned experts in their fields, such as law, history, politics, architecture and fine arts. Core courses include History of World Civilizations and Theory and Method in Civilization Studies. The Alliance of Civilizations Institute collaborates with Alliance of Civilizations Ally Group countries to specialize in student and faculty member exchange programs, organizing and hosting national and international meetings, panels, conferences, symposiums, seminars, and acting as a visionary for research projects. The Institute conducts scientific studies with a special emphasis on education, youth, immigration and media, which are the main areas of interest for the Alliance of Civilizations.

The Institute of Fine Arts has been founded to contribute to the academic careers of future artists who have internalized the national culture and traditional arts, with an aim to preserve many precious works of Turkish Art covering a vast geography for centuries; to produce work in line with the current artistic and aesthetic understanding within a universal dimension, and to further contribute to the artistic and aesthetic understanding of society.
Our primary goal in our institute's graduate programs within the field of Traditional Turkish Art (Calligraphy, Ornamentation Art, Miniature, Glazed Tile, Binding, Hand- Carved, Carpet-Rug-Cloth designs) is to preserve and cherish what is traditional, and to evaluate it within the current artistic understanding. We aim to create an educational environment which will enable students to produce authentic designs with a priority of style and authenticity by using the correct materials, patterns and technical information in all fields.

The Institute aims at upholding an understanding of education which, with conscious eagerness for the truth, rises above cultural roots; is shaped by contemporary scientific and technological values and constantly searches for, finds and shares the new. The Institute of Engineering and Natural Sciences exists to offer education in engineering, architecture and natural sciences; and to help postgraduate students develop their skills in education, research, application and management with regard to their respective fields. The Institute aims, in line with the mission of the university, and in a framework of cultural continuity and interdisciplinary cooperation, to enrich the intellectual
capacity of its students and equip them with necessary technical skills and thus helping them become members of a distinguished work force who are dynamic, sensitive to the problems of their society, successful, up-to-date on international scientific works and have the expertise needed in their fields. To that end, the Institute offers new programs that will turn our human potential into a great advantage.

We prioritize to enrich theoretical background with courses, treatises and projects in the schedule, produce solutions to potential problems in today's social life, and contribute to scientific life with preparing qualified academics.
as an Institution of Social Sciences, our aim is to play a guiding role in the issues directly related to social sphere by conducting scientific researches, to render scientific studies a necessary part of the social life and to highly contribute to social, scientific and business life both theoretically and practically. The mission of the institute is to improve co-operations between universities with international programs and to lead the studies between the subjects. We intend to be a research and education institution which is well-recognized, trustable and prestigious.

A New and Different Approach to Vocational Education and Training as the Vocational School, we have a unique approach towards education. We plan to give an education based on the needs of contemporary business world with the aid of the university. We aim to train our students to be qualified individuals who are accepted in their relevant fields.

In the 21th century, we are going through a process of change in a variety of science fields. The most important of these change waves is globalization and it requires many abilities and qualifications needed by people in a society and industry. With this change, English has been used as a common language of education in many universities. Our university is aiming at preparing the students for the future with an efficient and qualified language education and create a difference in their lives. Our academic staff in preparatory school is structured specially to offer the best language education.
