Taking its name from the founder of Ottoman Empire, Osman Gazi, our university is located in Eskişehir, and dates back to 1970.
Many of its departments are in Meşelik campus built on an area of 1700 m2. Meşelik forest which is next to the Meşelik Campus provides a very big recreational area.
Other campuses are Bademlik, Çamlık, Ali Numan Kıraç, Organize Sanayi Bölgesi, Sivrihisar, Mahmudiye and Çifteler.
Eskişehir Osmangazi University, having a total of 26.500 students at undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels, still continues education as a student-oriented university with 10 faculties, 2 COLLEGES, 4 vocational high schools, 5 instutitions, 3 departments affiliated to the Rectorate, and 23 research and application centres.
Our School of Medicine with its Education, Application and research Hospital, having a capacity of 110 beds, with ISO 9001 QUALITY AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CERTIFICATE, is an important unit of us with its 1211 students and around 300 students specializing in Medicine.
Students of Osmangazi University have a chance of getting a diploma or a certificate besides their own degree thanks to double major and minor programs.
With Eskişehir Osmangazi University mobile application, our university has become Turkey’s first mobile university. Students of Eskişehir Osmangazi University will be able to use the mobile technology which will guide them through their academic lives and let them share with each other.
893 students of ours in total have benefitted from ERASMUS, which is a student and academic staff exchange program between European Union countries. 52 students from the universities we have an agreement with have studied at our university so far. By 2013-2014 academic year, we have 125 dual agreements within Erasmus programme.
Within Farabi Exchange Programme, 174 students of ours have studied at the universities we have an agreement with since 2009-2010 academic year, and 343 students from other universities have studied at our university. We have an agreement with 70 universities by 2013-2014 academic year.
Our Mevlana Exchange Protocol number is 7 now, and we have not had a student exchange so far.
The number of projects of ours, which was 80 in 2012, within Scientific Research Projects is 103 by November, 2013.
Our university’s Turkish Language Teaching Implications and Research Center continues with teaching Turkish to 160 students coming from 5 continents and 50 countries.
Agreement of interdisciplinary rail networks ARGE and education has been signed between our university and TÜLOMSAŞ. We are the only university which is of a membership to Rail Network Conglomeration Association. Our other interdisciplinary programmes are the following: Biotechnology and Biosafety, Polymer Science and Technology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and Work Health and Safety.
Eskişehir Osmangazi University Distance Education Center, by serving different solutions for the students and the people working thanks to the distant education technologies’ flexibility, access and programmes in variety, was founded in 2012 in the need of urgent education. The center has distant education services for 150 Master students in the programme.
Within Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Medical-Social Center and Family Health Unit in this centre serves in order to solve health problems of students.
Our library is open to the access of the students and researchers. They can have the access to various international continuous journals in full texts with no cost.
At Osmangazi University, a wide range of cultural and sports events are organized for students to make use of their time out of the classroom. There are 86 student clubs formed by students, and panels, conferences, seminars and discussions have been made providing students an opportunity to meet speakers who are experts on their fields. Events such as exhibitions, shows, plays and musicals are shown at different venues of the university and spring fest, which is organized every year, become a scene for unforgettable shows and contests.
Eskişehir Osmangazi University values sports a lot, and there are a Sport Centre at international standarts with a capacity of 1200 spectators, a fitness centre and a semi olympic indoor swimming pool. Besides, indoor and outdoor football fields, tennis courts and basketball fields are open to use for students.
In addition to Esogu News Magazine prepared with voluntary contributions of students and academic staff, Esogu TV, whose new studio was built in the congress and culture center in 2013 and which introduces our university in local and international press, and also online Radio OGU, support the promotion of our university.
There are economic and quality meals for students and staff at all campuses, and there are cafeterias and patisseries, as well.
Affiliated with the Credit and Dormitories Agency, which is next to our Meşelik Campus, student dormitories with a total capacity of 4000 beds and private dormitories in the city easily meet the needs of students’ accommodation.
