APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES REGULATION FOR STUDENTS FROM ABROAD

PART ONE

Purpose and Scope, Basis and Definitions

Aims and Scope

ARTICLE 1 –

 (1) This directive, Gumushane University -level undergraduate and graduate students from abroad will be accepted based on application and admission relating to the acquisition organizes and covers.

(1) This directive Foreign Students Studying in Turkey with the Higher Education Law No. 2922/3. agent dated 21.01.2010 of the General Assembly based on the adoption of foreign students has been prepared based on the decision

Definitions

ARTICLE 3

(1) In this directive;

a) Unit: Faculty of the University, College or vocational school, depending departments and programmes

b) Related Board: depending on the relevant Faculty University, College or Vocational School Board of Directors,

c) Rector: Rector of the University of Gumushane,

d) Senate: Gumushane University Senate

d) University: University of Gumushane

PART TWO

Basic principles, Application and Registration Requirements

Basic principles

ARTICLE 4 –

(1) The University associate, bachelor’s, open learning and distance education programs, with the approval of the Board of Higher Education will accept students from abroad.

( 2) The University of the relevant units offered and the Senate, with the approval of the designated foreign students to be admitted quotas Board of Higher Education decided by binding Abroad Admissions Guide is located in the said manual posting ÖSYM done.

(3) Universities from abroad will apply for students of Higher Education approved by the Board exams of high school graduation exams in the status equivalent exams ( Abitur, International Baccalaureate , GCE, Tawjihi, etc..) The period of validity regarding any restrictions. However, with the status of the college entrance examination exam  validity period of two years.

(4) (Amended :You 15/05/2013–84/md.1) In case of insufficient applications , students can be placed in other departments except from Law, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy by the university senate.

(5) Accepted foreign students will pay tuition fees, according to the amount determined by the Council of Ministers by the University Board submitted to the Board of Higher Education .

(6) (Amended: You. 15/05/2013–84/md.1) University from abroad will accept student quotas refer to the absence or quota expiry of the case , stuffed applicant or non- quota university requested if transferred to other programs ÖSYS Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide located in quota of 35% may be added with the condition to pass .

Application Requirements

ARTICLE 5- (Amended: You.15/05/2013–84/md.1)

(1)On condition being either a Senior High School Student or a Graduate

    a) are foreign nationals,

    b) are native-born Turkish nationals that have ceased to be a citizen by courtesy of the Ministry of Interior and their minor children registered in the document of expatriation, provided that they can certify that they hold the official document for the use of rights defined in the Turkish Citizenship Law (Article 7 of the Turkish Citizenship Law no. 5901 reads as follows: “(1) A child born to a Turkish mother or through a Turkish father within the unity of marriage either in Turkey or abroad is a Turkish citizen”. The candidates are required to read the Turkish Citizenship Law before making an application.)

    c) are native-born foreigners that have become a Turkish citizen afterwards / dual nationality holders in the same situation,

    d) are Turkish nationals that have completed last three years of their high school education in a foreign country other than TRNC (including the ones that have completed the entire high school education at a Turkish school in a foreign country other than TRNC),

    e) are nationals of TRNC that reside in TRNC, and have completed their high school education in TRNC and have taken GCE AL exam, and are nationals of TRNC, and have received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam will be accepted.

(2) The application of the foreigners who;

    a) are Turkish nationals and completed the entire high school education in Turkey or TRNC,

    b) are hold nationality of TRNC (excluding the ones that have had their entire high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and have received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam),

   c) hold dual nationality, one of which is Turkish as defined in paragraph 2 of article a (excluding the ones that have had their entire high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and have received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam),

    d) hold dual nationality, one of which is TRNC (excluding the ones that have had their entire high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and have received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam),

    d) are Turkish nationals and have had their high school education in schools affiliated with the embassies in Turkey and foreign high schools in Turkey, or hold dual nationality and the first nationality is Turkish as defined in paragraph 2 of article a will not be accepted.

Admission requirements, assessment and recording principles

ARTICLE  6-

(1) Foreign students who will apply needs to carry at least one condition that the Gumushane University has set for and need to achieve the minimum passing score the university requires.

a) have at least one exam listed in Table 1 at the status of  national and international validitation of high school graduation and/ or university entrance exams;

b)  have YÖS exam( including the years of 2010-2011 and 2011-2012)

c) secondary education diploma points to have in their system.

(2) The candidates are placed in departments according to the order of preference list depend on the point system proclaimed by the university.

(3) students with aptitude tests and evaluation of applicants for these programs, the placement process

will determine the dates of these programs is done in accordance with their own principles and procedures .

(4) Foreign students must certify the financial resources of sustainable cost of living and the education recognized by the university with an international document.

(5) According to the results of the evaluation to the university students who register at the registration documents to be requested from the address will be announced.

(6) The language of instruction is Turkish register of candidates admitted to the unit after the start time for their education Which will be held by the University or recognized as equivalent to the results obtained in the Turkish language exam is optional. This of the candidates;

a)  those who are proficient in Turkish (Level A ) units will be able to immediately begin their education .

b) Turkish in a short time, which may be sufficient candidates (Level B) units to continue their education

While at the university, which will open on advancing Turkish courses / lessons obliged to continue will be held.

c) Candidates are judged insufficient Turkish (Level C ) one year after the leave of absence until they will be obliged to learn Turkish and Turkish , after demonstrating what they have learned in the unit will continue teaching . B within the time periods specified at least to the level of Turkish interests cannot be dismissed with one of the students .

ARTICLE (7) (Amendmend:You. 15/05/2013–84/md.1) Education tongue is not Turkish units Turkish exam for students who register will be made. Students who wish to enroll in this unit , for that language national and / or international qualification certificate must give the relevant unit . Foreign language levels are not deemed sufficient for the exam is done by the School of Foreign Languages. Successful start training, foreign language preparation classes who fail to continue.

PART THREE

Absence of provisions, Enforcement and Execution

Provisions are available

ARTICLE 12 –

 (1) In cases where there are provisions in this directive , in accordance with the relevant legislation and the relevant and competent authorities is carried out by the organization.

Force

ARTICLE 13 –

 (1) This directive adopted by Gumushane University Senate shall enter into force on the date .

Executive

ARTICLE 14 –

(1) This directive shall be conducted by the Rector of Gumushane.

Success Charter

EXAM OR DIPLOMA TYPE

CONDITIONS OF SUCCES

YÖS Basic Skill Tests

At least 40 points

2

SAT I exam

At least 1,000 total  points and at least 500 math score

GCE (A level) exam

Having A grade at least in 3 programmes in at least one applied programme

4

Tawjihi exams held in Jordan and Palestine

In science (Scientific Stream) exam grade point average in all courses must be at least 80.

5

International Baccalaureate diploma

Diploma grade must be at least 28.

6

ABITUR exam  

At least 4 points

7

ACT (American College Test) exam

Science (Science Reasoning), mathematics (math) and total points must be at least 21 points

(Baccalaureat Libanais) exam

In science (Scientific Stream) diploma grade must be at least 65 to 100

9

University Entrance exam done in Republic of China (Gaokao)

Having at least 500 out of 700 in applied programme.

Al-Shahada-AlThanawiyya (Baccalaureate) in Syria

In science (Scientific Stream), in Faculty of Engineering Departments at least 185 and at least 170 points in  other departments  out of  240.

International science Olympiads TUBITAK takes place and recognize.

Having gold, silver and bronze medals.

Al-Shahada-AlThanawiyya (Baccalaureate) exam in Lebanon

In science (Scientific Stream), in Faculty of Engineering Departments at least 185 and at least 170 points in  other departments  out of  240.

Being evaluated as successful by the University

14

Candidates with Secondary  School Points

At least 60 percentage of total grade.
