ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
The foundation of Balıkesir University trace back to Karesi Teacher School established in 1910. This school was carried to the building which is currently being used as Necatibey Faculty of Education with particular interests of the Minister of Education, Mr. Mustafa Necati in 1932. Necatibey Teachers' School continued to train teachers under the name of Necatibey Education Institute between 1932 and 1982; In 1981, three-year status of the School changed and it was granted a 4-year 4 Higher Teacher Training School; In 1982, it was connected to Uludağ University and this institution was named as Necatibey Faculty of Education. Likewise, with decree numbered 41 in 1982, Balıkesir School of Business and Hotel Management was connected to Uludağ University with the name Balıkesir School of Tourism and Hotel Management; and Balıkesir State Engineering and Architecture Academy was also connected to Uludağ University by the name Balıkesir Engineering Faculty. Balıkesir Vocational School, which is another institution connected to Uludağ University, continued its activities under the same name. Having stayed under the roof of Uludağ University for 10 years, these foundations has formed a powerful background for Balıkesir University with a firm and consistent development
